BBBでOpenBSDを試す

はじめに

@nonakapさんにBBB (BeagleBone Black)をいただいたので、OpenBSDを試してみることにしました。そのメモです。

いただいたBBBは、なんとAsiaBSDCon 2015の会場でFreeBSD財団に寄付した人に抽選で1名に当たったやつでした。

せっかくなので、FreeBSDを動かそうを思っていたのですが、FreeBSD Wikiをみても、ちょっとよくわかりませんでした。その点、OpenBSDは、だいぶ前からBBBは動いているようなので、OpenBSDを試してみることにしました。

BBBのファームウェアアップデート

まず、BBBのファームウェアアップデートを行います。(これを行わないと、SDからうまく起動しません。)http://beagleboard.org/latest-images にアクセスし、 BeagleBone Blackに対応したファームウェアをダウンロードします。

あとは、http://beagleboard.org/getting-started のページにある、Update board with latest softwareにあるとおりにします。

2016年11月の時点では、ダウンロードしてきたファイルを展開し、そのファイルを、micro SDに書き込みます。(Windows上で作業するのであれば、Windowsのddみたいな何かを使います。)micro SDをBBBに挿した後電源をOnにすると、そのSDからbootします。その後、BBB上のLinux上にある /boot/uEnv.txt をWebページのとおり書き換え、再起動すると、eMMCを書き換える動作がおきます。(Webページにあるとおり、LEDが順番に点滅する動作になります。)

シリアルをつないでいれば、動作を観察することもできます。

45分くらいかかる、と上記Webページにはありますが、実際はもっと早く終わりました。BBBの電源が落ちたらアップデート終了です。

OpenBSDのインストール

OpenBSDのportは、OpenBSD/armv7になります。ダウンロードサイト(今回もJAISTさんにお世話になる)から、インストール用のminiroot.fsをダウンロードします。ファイルがいくつかありますが、どれをダウンロードすればよいかは、INSTALL.armv7を読みましょう。

ダウンロードしてきたminiroot.fsを、micro SDに書き込みます。

シリアルコンソールのためのケーブルを接続します。(自分は、定番の秋月電子通商のものを利用しました。黒いケーブルが、5V電源の方を向くように挿します。)

BBBの電源を落とし、micro SDスロットのボタンを押しつつ、電源を入れると、SDから起動します。コンソール出力は以下のとおり。
